The Famous Painting: Planting Rice

     Planting Rice by Fernando Amorsolo

The planting rice is a magnificent painting made by our very own Filipino artist, Fernando Amorsolo. The painter Fernando, is very famous for his visual arts during the year 1892-1972. He exhibits his talent by making beautiful arts that have significant meanings. And one of his great works was the planting rice that depicts happiness behind difficulties in planting.

The planting rice was based on Filipinos culture and tradition, wherein it is still applicable until now. The setting of the painting is in the field with the female and male farmers under the bright sun. The painting used lightweight colors to produce a calm and peaceful theme, which makes the painting simple. Fernando Amorsolo used a realism genre which makes the painting very detailed and looks like in real life. He also made used of a back-lighting technique to make the figures outlined against characteristic glow and have an intense light highlighting the nearby details. The painting planting of rice also shows how simple Filipinos are. They are simply wearing bright clothes and straw hats in a green landscape and behind them was the perfect cone-shaped Mayon Volcano.

To summarize, Fernando truly highlights the culture and tradition of Filipinos through his artworks which makes me so proud. Through his artworks, we’ve felt how is truly devoted he is making our county popular in the field of arts which is very remarkable.
